"Violence never an answer to violence"
Issued: 16 July 2001

Spokesperson for the Australian Federation of Right To Life Associations, Alison Hope, condemned the murder of a security guard outside an abortion clinic in east Melbourne today.

"The killing of the security guard is deplorable", Ms Hope said.

"The Federation is committed to the protection of human life from conception until natural death.

"Violence is never an answer to violence. A solution to the social problem of abortion will not be found through violence."

Ms Hope expressed her continuing support for pro-life people who engage in peaceful protest, prayer or counselling outside abortion clinics.

"I know that all those pro-lifers who are present at abortion clinics on a regular basis will be feeling the same shock and distress at this news as any other member of the public."
